center, Bengaluru organizes an international Printmaking event - Bengaluru
Print Exchange International / #bpei2022. It showcases the works of 64
Printmaker, including 24International and 40National .
The show got its formal opening in the presence of Sridhar Murthy, HOD Printmaking dept,CKP, Rafiq Mulla sir( Rtd. Supdt of Police, Bengaluru), Major Guruprasad on 17th December 2022 at 5: 30 pm
A catalogue, beautifully designed was published to commemorate the event. For this project, printmakers across the world, got selected through an Open call. Some Printmaker also joined through an invitation. Each Printmaker has executed the print in specific sizes of 210 x 297 mm. Artist chose any of diverse media, including woodcut, Intaglio, etching, viscosity, aquatint, mezzotint, linocut, photogravure. The prints are handmade in contrast to mechanical reproduction of images i.e. digital photography.
The flagship event of the Lavaru art center is held every year in month of December to celebrate the finesse and diversity of Printmaking art form.
Bengaluru Print Exchange International/ BPEI aims to connect/
promote printmaker/ art institutions/ organizations, across the world. Printmaking is quite popular contemporary medium of art making/ practice to enrich visual culture around. It’s getting wider acceptance among contemporary artist/ designer and patron.

BPEI, initiative is supported by Lavaru art Society and hosted by Lavaru Art center by Alka Chavda, director of lavaru art center and Suresh Kumar, being the curator for the project. More such events do help to make Printmaking a joy to learn and practice, that is experimental, diverse, intimate and popular.
